HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

I hope you all made it through the holidays. I did but not without some stress about getting presents and some family drama. So, Im glad its all over and now I can get back to my schedule or normal things.

On to tack stuff....Its so hard taking pix of this set because it is so reflective but I havnt worked too much so it looks like. I have started to add the green type studs to the serape skirts like which goes around the tapaderos. I also got the breastcollar cut out and dyed and ready to decorate. Im trying to get this done to raise money for my show in March but Im thinking I need to get the class list done otherwise there wont be a show to raise money for...LOL :) Im loving this set and will soon be taking offers on it. Stay tuned !!

This is what I have gotten done on this mini set. Im really loving the back piece and how it turned out. These little guys just keep getting funner to work on and try to make as close to the big ones as I can.

Saturday's Progress.

This past week did not hold out to be as productive as I thought it would be but I did get the serapes done and added to the saddle set.

Dont you just love the cooler pix? Ya, its so dark in my apartment for this set to show up very well in pix so I took it outside.
(This set is being made to raise funds for my show in March)
Now back to work on the mini set !!!

Sunday's Progress

Sunday's work on this set led me to finishing the seat, adding some awesome small silver detail around the pommel, gluing down the whole seat horn piece and then finishing up the serapes.

My pictures make everything look like it is wavy but it is not.

This SM set is the third I have made and it is pretty darn close to the real traditional sized sets I do so far. Unfortunately I only have two more SM sized trees left and the lady I was getting them from I dont think will sell them again. I have tried to email her but have never heard anything in return. So Im trying to make the last ones the best I can. I construct my own horn on the pommel as there is not such thing on the tree when you get them. Im pretty proud of getting the scale very correct.

Next I need to add some saddle string detail and then move on to the back rump piece.

The serapes are just sitting there and are not glued in or down. The seat part is also just sitting there and is not glued down as it is not done yet and needs a piece added to it. I think out of the two SM sets I have done this may be my favorite so far. I think Im going to do a larger breastcollar on this one since I havnt done one in awhile.

"Breezin Bi-U" wining AR/CM English Champion and AR/CM Overall Reserve Grand Champion.

Lola also got AR/CM Overall Grand Champion in performance. I had already taken off her tack for halter.

"Drenaline DXT" winning OF Western Champion.

"Eight of Spaddes" winning OF Western Reserve Champion.

"Menage a Trois" winning OF English Champion.

" Drenaline DXT" winning OF Grand Champion in performance.

There wasnt much for competition but it was Lola and Drenaline's first real time showing. They had one show before and bombed. I wasnt really prepared with them. You gotta stay on top of your game for performance. Get creative and change it up alot. Phew !! It is not easy.

I found SM sized pom poms !!!

I found some mini sized pom poms to make saddle blankets for the parade sets. Woo-hoo !! I had to trim them a bit but they ended up working out really nice. I also added a face piece on the bridle on this set. It goes out to its new owner on Monday.

CLICK on pix for bigger view and then click again. Pix look a little wavy but everything is neat and clean and flat just like the big sets I make.

This set is a heart themed set and YES those are very very small hearts that are in SCALE to the size of the saddle and model. This set is even better than the first one I did as I added saddle strings a full leather seat and more detail to come.

I love working on several things at once and this set came together in like two days. I have just been tinkering with it now while something else dries or I'm stuck on a design etc. It will be for sale here soon !!!

Customer decided they didnt like the saddle before it was even finished. It is after a real horse saddle set that she sent me a pix of so I finished it to look like the saddle. I am currently working on the breast collar and then will do the bridle. Im trying to make it more of a western working saddle as well as a western pleasure set. I have it up for offers on MH$P but really not expecting anything until there is a bridle and breast collar to go along with it. So stay tuned for finished pix. It will take a bit as I am working on a parade set also currently.

Yes, Jane's set is finally done. This one took me awhile and I apologize for it taking such a long time but at times I had to set it aside until the design came to me. The main saddle idea came from a real horse parade set Jane had and then I went from there with everything else. I cant wait to see this on a painted Matriarch !! Thanks to Jane for giving me this opportunity to make something like this. I only hope its all that you wanted.

Two Horns Bar Custom Saddle Works

is proud to offer FOR SALE...

A western silver show saddle set. This set is brand new and only shown once.

This set includes:

Natural colored western saddle with lots of detail. Basketweave design, edges done in edge kote, hand cut silver with a flower design with hints of gold, silver horn and black leather seat. Leather basketweaved cinch.

Breastcollar done in basketweave to match saddle, edges have been done in edge kote also. Silver twist circle center, Silver etched buckles and easily can be attached and removed from saddle.

Bridle has a Rio Rondo bit, silver etched buckles, buckle keepers, one ear bridle, braided matching reins and all leather has been tooled.

All my work is flashy, clean and easily tacked up. My work is also NAN qualifing and has won many customers NAN top tens and NAN Champions. Not to mention lots of firsts and champions in the show ring.

This saddle set was shown once this past weekend where it helped my Roxy win Champion OF Western Performance and Reserve Overall Champion OF Performance.

Pictures dont really show how cool this saddle is !!

Yes, that is hand tooled flowers with leaves all over the saddle. Each circle is hand cut and tooled from silver and each tiny dot is pin heads. I hope it looks ok so far ???

Just checking in with you all.....

As it seems when I make plans to work on tack lately it seems to get ruined. I gave up going to a live show on Saturday to have the weekend to work on tack but was so blessed with the fact that I had to work all weekend and have still been working everyday. Dont tell your employees NOT to get sick because they end doing just that. For those of you who dont know after a long year of working my tushy off I made manager of a Starbucks which is in a Safeway. So, I am a Safeway employee and not a Starbucks. To be honest I dont know which is better. Probably at this point in the economy Safeway would be the better so Im sitting good in the all of things.

But to the point of things. I have not got a chance to work on anything. Ughh !!!! But I started 2 new girls yesterday and brought in a couple other employees from other stores and so my plan once again is to have this weekend off and get the 2 parade sets I have DONE !!! I know I thought work was settling down before well now with 2 new people it should be even better. Atleast now I have people to cover the shifts of the sick so I dont have to work everyday.
Woo-hoo !!!

Snowed In for 2 weeks and UPDATES !!!

Well, for two weeks during xmas we were snowed in. Luckily, I am able to walk to work and my boyfriend doesnt have but 5 minutes to go to work. We were not able to go anywhere until xmas day. We had a layer of snow and then a layer of ice and a ton on snow on top of that. Needless to say we had a xmas tree with no presents underneath it this year. And as for others we had to buy for they got gift cards. There was no traveling into Salem from Silverton to go shopping.

So thats what was going on for me and now as of last night I was up off and on all night keeping watch over the creek outside that had turned into a river and rose many feet within a couple hours. It did stay at one high level all night and did not rise anymore thank god because it started to pour around 1am and then we awoke to a dusting of snow. I will post pix of the creek/river tomorrow. So, it was a bit scary.

I did get a bit behind on things with the weather and work....I have been working more hours covering at work and trying to get the new manager position. But I have this weekend off and plan to get both sets I am currently working on done and order bits for the sets too tomorrow.

Sharon emailed me the other day and sent me a pix and I thought I would share a bit of her email...

I haven't talked to you for a long time. I bought the dark classic size reining saddle, the dark western pleasure saddle and one of the first parade saddles you made. I'm attaching pictures of this year's NAN trip. The parade saddle on my b & w pinto ASB got a top 10. I ended up with 7 halter top tens and 4 performance top tens, a Reserve Champion and a National Champion. All of these performance entries have been winning. My western horse won all 3 classes and was Champion W Performance horse at the show before NAN and after NAN she won 4 classes and was Champion Western Performance Horse and Reserve Champion Overall Performance. "
